Horizontal Rule
Inserts a horizontal rule on the following line. This horizontal rule fills the available space.

The preceeding line contains a horizontal rule.

Ordered List
This may be applied to the cursor position or a selection of text.
Each real line (lines followed by a carriage return) is prefixed with bullet point. This bullet point is automatically generated as a set of sequential numbers beginning at the value "1".

    list
If you would like a line to be split, but no new bullet point to be created try holding down the "shift" key on the keyboard at the same time as pressing the "enter" (carriage return) key.
To turn off the ordered list at a specific line, place the cursor there and press (toggle) the ordered list button. This also applies to selections.

Unordered List
The unordered behaves in an identical manner to the ordered list, the only difference being that the bullet points are both graphical and identical, rather than numerical and unique.
  • Here

  • ordered
  • list
To turn off the unordered list at a specific line, place the cursor there and press (toggle) the unordered list button. This also applies to selections.

Outdent
The outdent function applies to paragraphs and to ordered and unordered lists.
It makes an indent (it inserts a region of space) to the left of the selected line, or the line on which the cursor rests and following lines. (this line is outdented)
Repeatedly pressing the outdent button will incrementally multiple the depth of the indent. (this line has been outdented twice).
When used on paragraphs it is essentially creating an unordered list whilst using blank bullet points.
Indent
The indent function reverses the effect of the outdent function.

When you have finished your list, press enter one last time to make a final blank line with a bullet point. If the list is an ordered list, click on the ordered list button to toggle out of list mode and back into the normal line mode. If the list is an unordered list click on the unordered list button.
